After a successful first 4.5 years of the project, Cyborg Soloists has been granted renewal funding by UK Research and Innovation. This achievement recognises the many successful outputs from the project, from new innovations in using brain sensors as instruments, to internationally successful works by composers such as Philip Venables, to publications in many leading music and interdisciplinary journals.
I'm looking forward to building on the 70 new works we've created with some new plans focusing on AI, new audio-visual interactions, spacialised sound and body-worn instruments. Composers already writing new works in this phase include Ben Nobuto, George Lewis, Jasmin Kent Rodgman, Nicholas Moroz, Nicole Lizée and Robert Laidlow.
