Zubin Kanga performs the World Premiere of Laurence Osborn's concerto, Schiller's Piano, with Manchester Collective at the Royal Northern College of Music. The work, a centrepiece of Cyborg Soloists,is a virtuosic combination of the piano alongside a keyboard playing the sounds of piano construction, recorded at the Southbank Centre's piano workshop. Created as a response to thereplica of Schiller’s piano at the Buchenwald memorial – built by prisoners there and unable to play music – Osborn responds to fascism’s empty attempts to recreate the past. The work is part of their Fever Dreams programme, featuring a variety of old and new works.
