Zubin Kanga piano, electronics & video

Alexander Schubert WIKI-PIANO.NET
Claudia Molitor You touched the twinkle on the helix of my ear
Zubin Kanga Transformations III (world premiere)
Nicole Lizée Scorsese Etudes

Zubin Kanga performs ground-breaking new works for piano and multimedia, inspired by internet culture, film, video art and sci-fi themes.

Alexander Schubert‘s WIKI-PIANO.NET explores the nature of internet culture, using a website to allow the public to co-compose the work especially for each performance. Join the 700 composers so far: visit the site, edit notation, link to sound files and Youtube videos, change text and instructions just like a Wikipedia page.

Claudia Molitor uses film of her own hands notating the work to create a dance of sound and screen between herself and the pianist. Zubin Kanga layers piano and analogue 80s-influenced synths sounds to create a minimalist sonic tapestry. Nicole Lizée uses loop and glitch techniques to delve into classic cinema – here examining the violence, black humour and dynamic energy of Martin Scorsese’s films, focusing on Goodfellas and The Wolf of Wall St.

Presented in association with Anglia Ruskin University

‘Kanga is… effortlessly virtuosic and in complete command of this (quite literally) electrifying modern repertoire’ Limelight magazine
